Increasing Local Municipal Revenue

Kabul, 4th April 2018

Afghan municipal authorities have launched a pioneering system which calculates, issues and collects municipal revenues (Safayi revenue) with technical support from UN-Habitat City for All Programme (CFA).

Since October 2017, CFA staff has surveyed more than 500.000 households across the country, and delivered municipal tax invoices to over 49,000 in Kabul. This has already resulted in more than AFS 67,000,000 additional revenue for local government (almost USD 1 Mill).

This is a great achievement in such a short period of time. Congratulations to Afghanistan for taking impressive steps in the implementation of the New Urban Agenda.
