Invest in children to transform the future

11th August 2017, Bamyan,

The children, with a high interest were attending school and had studied in an open space where no facility existed to save them from the direct sun.

We were finding them sick during the hot and cold seasons, but still, the high interest and motivation of the students were appreciable. The children with only a book, even without a tent, used deserts as their board to write, cleaned and sit on as their classroom and spent half of their lifetime to continue their studies. Besides this, it’s a hidden motivation in them who care their children with  a mindset of investing in their children to transform the future.

UN-Habitat facilitated the Gozar 1 and Zargaran area through people’s process to priorities their urgent needs through AUPP project funded by the Government of the Netherlands and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). The GA and CDC members prioritized a school building for their children and drawn up their community action plan accordingly

“Education plays an important role in society; parents have a responsibility to send their children to schools for their better future and serving as a better person to the communities. However, it was difficult for our children to concentrate on their

studies without a proper learning space and facilities; It is now that our children have a better opportunity to study better. We appreciate the government of the Netherlands, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and UN-Habitat for their generous contribution to our community” Said Fatima, Community member in GA1.

The four classroom school with 45 set chairs and tables, 108 square meter green and open area and three set washrooms constructed in 367- square meter total land in Bamyan City with a cost of USD 64,706$. It benefits the girls and boys students in GA 1.
